(To realize maximum educational gains from a Tristate education center, it must collaborate closely with schools. Field trips to the center and in-school programs must all be integrated into an overall educational enhancement package.
Schools face constraints on both field trips and in-school programs. Building principals and school science and mathematics curriculum coordinators must be part of the GCSEC Concept Development Project team. The center and its programs and services should be designed to maximize their utilization by schools.)
COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
Version 1.0 6 January 1999
To contribute to development of an education center within the GCSEC concept and to maintain an on-going and mutually beneficial dialogue between GCSEC and grades K-16 school administrators throughout the Tristate region.
There should be representation from each of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. There also should be representation from each of rural, suburban and urban school systems. There should also be at least one principal from a non-public school.
Each principal should be a member of at least one local or state principals association. The curriculum coordinators should be members of at least one local or national educational association.
Three people should be designated as tri-chairs, one representing each of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Other objectives may be added as the need arises.
The committee should try to meet as a whole about every two months. It is expected that regular communication would be via e-mail. Communication between the GCSEC and the committee would normally be through the tri-chairs. Material being reviewed by the committee, such as exhibit instructional labels, could be posted on a lower level of the GCSEC web site that is not advertised to the general public. That would allow the committee members to see and print (using their web browser) materials that might include diagrams, pictures and other graphics.
