GCSEC ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Revised 12 March 1999

For a number of reasons, the GCSEC believes engineering professions should be part of the Concept Development Project team. Although Aeronautical, Bio-Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering course titles are not found grades K-12, much of the science and mathematics that is taught is essential foundation for a college engineering curriculum.

It is expected that engineering professions will be an excellent source of suggestions for exhibits. It is also expected that engineers will suggest novel approaches for interpreting exhibits, for challenge questions and for (student) classroom projects.

Third, a science, mathematics and engineering technology education center will stimulate more students to consider science- and mathematics-based college programs and more technical careers. Increasing the pool of technically trained adults will in turn stimulate and boost the area economy. Engineering advisory committees are expected to provide useful input to center design to support and encourage students' pursuing technical studies and careers.

The first draft of the committee description is now under development.
