COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION
Version 1.5 12 January 1999
To contribute to development of an education center within the GCSEC concept and to maintain an on-going and mutually beneficial dialogue between GCSEC and grades K-16 mathematics teachers throughout the Tristate region.
In each grade level group one person should represent instruction in each of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Each committee member should be a member of at least one professional mathematics education organization, such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) or one of its state or local affiliates: Greater Cincinnati Council of Teachers of Mathematics (GCCTM); the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM); the Northern Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NKCTM); the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics (KCTM); and the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM).
Three people should be designated as tri-chairs, one representing instruction in each of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Other objectives may be added as the need arises.
The committee should try to meet as a whole about every two months. It is expected that regular communication would be via e-mail. Communication between the GCSEC and the committee would normally be through the tri-chairs. Material being reviewed by the committee, such as exhibit instructional labels, could be posted on an unlinked page of the GCSEC web site that is not advertised to the general public. That would allow the committee members to see and print (using their web browser) rough draft materials that could include diagrams, pictures and other graphics.
