Ph.D. in Computer Science in March 2006, Igor Nai Fovino worked as contractual researcher at the University of Milan in the field of privacy preserving datamining and computer security and as lecturer of the courses of “Computer Security” (2002) and “Laboratory of Computer Security” (2003).
In 2004 Igor was Visiting Researcher at CERIAS Research Centre (Purdue University, West-Lafayette, Indiana, USA) working on secure and survivable routing protocols and cryptographic schemas for ad-hoc networks.
From 2005 to 2011 he was Scientific Officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission where he led the European Laboratory for ICT Security of Industrial Critical Infrastructure, providing scientific support to the EU Policies related to the EPCIIP program.
From 2006 to 2011 he was also contractual professor at the University of Insubria (Course of Operating Systems). His main research activities are related to the computer security and, more specifically: ICT Security of industrial critical infrastructure, Risk Assessment methodologies, Intrusion Detection Techniques, Cryptography and Secure Network Protocols. In this context he is author of more than 60 scientific papers published on international journals, books and conference proceedings; moreover, he serves as reviewer for several international journals in the ICT security field.
In May 2010 Igor received the IEEE HSI 2010 best paper award in the area of SCADA Systems.
Since 2007 he is member of the IFIP Working Group on Critical Infrastructure Protection.
In February 2011 joined the Global Cyber Security Center as Research Manager.
