The GCSEC is interested in encouraging and facilitating collaborations, partnerships and other types of working relationships between businesses and their employees and schools, teachers and students. It is felt that:
- teachers would like to bring people with work experience into the classroom to present real-life applications of the subjects being taught;
- many people with relevant work experience would love to be able to enrich the classroom if they had the opportunity;
- teachers would like to have meaningful and interesting summer internships to gain perspective on the real-world uses of science, mathematics and technology;
- business gains from teacher summer internships have been obvious and significant in San Francisco, California; and
- business gains from business-school partnerships have been obvious and significant in Columbus, Ohio.
We would like to hear from people who have experience with business-school partnerships and collaborations or with teacher summer business internships. A long-term goal is to develop a meaningful and mutually beneficial program of such partnerships and collaborations in the Tristate.
